Underscoring his authoritarian tendencies, standard vote loser Donald Trump earlier this week demanded that the Pentagon begin planning a giant, shiny, patriotic parade to “honor the military.”
Anyone with a mind is aware of that in Trump’s small thoughts, this might honor him greater than the navy. This thought drew widespread, bipartisan disapproval, each from Congress and the media.
Eaton stated Trump has “continually shown himself to have authoritarian tendencies” and the parade thought was “just another worrisome example,” in accordance to a tweeted assertion from VoteVets, a progressive political motion committee.
“We don’t live in a dictatorship or a monarchy. I swore an oath—in the military and in the Senate—to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, not to mindlessly cater to the whims of Cadet Bone Spurs and clap when he demands I clap”
But the most effective rebuke of Trump’s newest ego boosting thought got here in this brief and easy response from America’s smart newscaster, Dan Rather, on his Facebook web page:
“Military Parades are not participation trophies you get for being President. We’ve had them in the past. When we won wars. Now Americans are still serving in harm’s way around the globe (including America’s longest war – Afghanistan). There is no Mission Accomplished, except stroking an ego.”
Indeed, Mr. Rather. We don’t have something to have fun at present, Donald, so it’s fairly clear you solely need this parade to stroke your ego, and hopefully distract from the investigation into your a number of felony endeavors.
