BIG Ben’s bongs will fall silent again tomorrow after ringing in the New Year.

The bell’s well-known bongs had been turned again on to chime over Christmas and New Year.

The £60million repairs mission had initially deliberate to silence the bongs till 2021.

The well-known clock tower was silenced to shield employees’ hearings throughout 4 years of repairs

But now House of Commons chiefs have pledged the 13.7-ton bell will chime again subsequent 12 months on Remembrance Sunday and different necessary occasions such as New Year.

In 2018 the Great Clock – lined in scaffolding – can be taken aside piece by piece and examined by employees.

A Parliamentary assertion learn: “Once the Great Clock has been removed, we will ensure that the Great Bell can sound for important national events such as Remembrance Sunday and New Year.”
